FINTEL sponsors WWF's turtle conservation work in Fiji
FINTEL has continued to be a major sponsor for WWF's (World Wide Fund For Nature) turtle conservation work in Fiji since it launched the Pacific Year of the Sea Turtle campaign in March (2006).
Prior to the 2006 Hibiscus Festival's opening parade day on Friday 25th August, two icons of the Festival, Ms Liebling Marlow, the first Miss Hibiscus (1956), Ms. Lenora Qereqeretabua (Miss Hibiscus 1988) along with Mr. Samuela Samuta (FINTEL's Manager Regulatory & Corporate Services) launched an initiative to protect a cultural icon - the endangered sea turtle, by unveiling banners advocating for their protection, in Fiji's three official languages.
With FINTEL's support, WWF intends to conduct an awareness raising road tour for selected coastal communities and schools towards the end of this year.
