Southern Cross Cable Maintenance
FINTEL wishes to advise all its customers that the Fiji – Hawaii segment of the Southern Cross Cable Network (SCCN – www.southerncrosscables.com) will be undergoing technical maintenance from midday Sunday 10th January to midday Tuesday 20th January 2009.
During this time, the SCCN will be considered to be in a hazardous condition, however, all Fiji traffic bound for this segment will be routed via the protected/redundant cable path, with minimum disruptions.
The SCCN is the optical fibre submarine cable that links Fiji’s international telecommunications systems with the rest of the world through direct connections with USA via Hawaii while another cable segment loops back from Hawaii into New Zealand, Australia and into Fiji offering self-healing loop in the case of a breakdown in one of the cable segments. The SCCN provides the fastest, most direct, and most secure international bandwidth from Australasia, New Zealand and Hawaii via the Pacific right to the heart of the Internet in the USA.
